The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which seeks to protect the future of our nation’s water supply by promoting water efficiency and enhancing the market for water-efficient products, programs and practices, began a voluntary program called WaterSense, which is similar to the well-known Energy Star Program. As of February 13, 2008, Caroma has an industry-leading 51 WaterSense approved toilets.

Caroma toilets offer a patented dual flush technology consisting of a 0.8 gallon flush for liquid waste and a 1.6 gallon flush for solids.
Caroma toilets can save up to 72% (approximately 18,000 gallons) of annual water consumption compared to the traditional 3.5 gallon flush toilet and up to 40% (approximately 4,600 gallons) compared to today’s standard 1.6 gallon per flush toilets. Since the average user only requires a half flush to dispose of waste 80% of the time, the average water consumption of these toilets is less than 1 gallon per flush! In order for this technology to work optimally, the bowl has been redesigned and a larger waste trap is used.
The industry-leading 3.5 inch trap (versus 2 – 2.25 inches in standard toilets) allows waste to easily be pushed down with less water. This oversize trapway will dramatically reduce maintenance cost as it virtually eliminates clogs caused by excessive paper waste and foreign objects.

Aside from high efficiency toilets and stunning lavatories, Caroma also manufactures high efficiency urinals or HEUs. Caroma's high efficiency urinals are designed to meet industry needs wherever water conservation is a concern. Constructed of vitreous china, Caroma urinals, with its strong contemporary designs, are suitable for both commercial and residential developments. Thanks to its innovative design and technology, the Cube 3 Ultra was named one of the Top 10 green building products of 2007 by GreenSpec.
For achieving 100% water savings, Caroma has introduced the H2Zero™ Waterless urinal, which is changing the waterless urinal market since it does not require a chemical seal or trap. The H2Zero™ urinal's patented cartridge incorporates a Bio Seal™ valve that opens during usage and self seals immediately, thereby eliminating the need for flushing water. The Bio Seal™ valve helps keep maintenance costs low as it is good for approximately 12,000 uses, more than any waterless urinal maintenance systems on the market.
